Wilfred Hamilton "Boots" Boutilier
66, Glace Bay
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our son, husband and father, Boots Boutilier, 39 Reserve Street, Glace Bay on Sunday, January 24, 2010.
Born in Sydney, he was the only child of Mildred "Polly" Boutilier and the late Ernest Boutilier.
Boots worked many years in the insurance industry, first as an adjuster then as the manager of Island Insurance in North Sydney. He was a founding partner in the MacLeod Lorway Group and was Vice President until his retirement in 1999.
Boots' passions were fishing and gardening. He spent many hours at his summer home in Margaree either on the river or in his garden. He excelled on the horseshoe pitch and won many tournaments at Northside East Bay.
He was past-president of the Cape Breton Canoe and Geographic Society, and the Cape Breton Anglers Association. Boots was also a long standing member of the "card club".
Besides his mother, Boots is survived by his wife, Wilma (Lever) Boutilier, son Marc and daughter, Jennifer.
Visitation will take place 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, January 27 at V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay. A funeral service in celebration of Boots will be held 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 28, 2010 at St. Andrews United Church, 40 Bentick St., Sydney.
